How to make your cervical test more comfortable

“Ideally, you would arrange it for somewhere in the middle of your cycle or towards the end of your cycle.” Dr Kaye adds the test itself might cause some pain similar to menstrual cramps, “but that lasts maximum 30 seconds, and then it’s gone”. Wear comfortable clothes The doctor or nurse taking the test needs you to be relaxed when taking the test – so make sure you’re comfortable. “Maybe you want to wear a skirt, so that we can lift that up and you still feel more covered – as opposed to taking off leggings or jeans,” says Dr Kaye. Ask for a woman to do the test If you’re more comfortable with a female doctor or nurse doing …

My mum was an addict, this is my story

The early days Mum: I remember times when I just couldn’t face things, I couldn’t face being a parent and I would isolate myself in my bedroom. When you were little, you went to a Halloween party and you were really excited, then I got that call. I was so off my face when the school called. It was about nine o’clock and I needed to pick you up, do you remember that? Tia: Yeah, I remember that. Mum: What was that like for you? Tia: Well, it was a little bit scary because I didn’t know where you were and I wasn’t aware of anything that was going on at that point. It didn’t really seem like a big …

Many ‘still hurting’ nearly 5 months after Hurricane Michael

Drivers who have lived in the area for years second-guess themselves about whether they’re going the right way — the street signs, trees, and houses that once served as points of reference are gone. Many doctors’ offices haven’t reopened and one of the county’s two hospitals was closed, even though Bay County residents are experiencing hurricane-related health problems such as respiratory illness. Students in schools damaged by the storm have moved into other facilities, dropping enrollment by 14 percent. Bay County had about 183,000 residents before the storm, and about 7,800 people were estimated to be homeless in January. Shopping for groceries is burdensome since many retailers haven’t reopened yet. Many of those that have are selling limited goods from …

Bernie Sanders Contrasts His Modest Childhood With Trump’s Lavish Past In First 2020 Rally

His speech, on the college campus where he spent the first year of his undergraduate education, aimed to reveal a more personal side of the Vermont senator that Sanders has traditionally avoided in favor of discussing his progressive politics. In his remarks, Sanders recalled growing up in a small, rent-controlled apartment a few miles from the Brooklyn College campus with his parents and brother. His father, a Jewish immigrant from Poland, worked as a paint salesman, and the family’s finances fluctuated greatly. “That dream was never fulfilled,” he continued. “She died young while we still lived in that rent-controlled apartment.” In addition, Sanders emphasized that his father’s journey as a 17-year-old to seek a better life in the United States …

In Hanoi and at home, the Trump show flops

(CNN)What a big double bill it was — President Donald Trump taking the world stage for a nuclear summit with Kim Jong Un of North Korea, just as his former fixer-lawyer, Michael Cohen, was appearing before a Congressional committee for a one-man revue about schemes, lies and porn-star payoffs. No deal Dealmaker Trump left Vietnam empty-handed. But Nathan Park insisted it’s Kim Jong Un who should be feeling the pressure now. “Trump and his unconventional approach to diplomacy represented the best chance for North Korea to win any concession from the United States.” And the explosive allegations on Capitol Hill (“an administration beginning to teeter,” wrote Nicholas Kristof in the New York Times) could mean that Kim doesn’t have much …

The Latest: Fundraising for FL hurricane victims falls short

Residents of a Florida Panhandle county devastated by a monster storm are feeling forgotten. Private fundraising on behalf of Hurricane Michael survivors is well short of fundraising for victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Florence.
